Marmeladov is a poignant reminder of the destruction one can cause oneself due to self sabotage, even though he has a family that I’m sure loves him. A man who drowns himself in drink will also drown the ones he loves.

Benton Murray Let me know if you want to read/discuss this together, like a semi-book club or something. If this is your first Dostoevsky novel, I then assume barrage of endless paragraphs and character monologues is disorienting. (That was my experience with The Brothers Karamazov anyway, I thought he damn near lost the plot and it took me months to finish 😅)
Apparently he's often more invested in using the plot to facilitate conversation than... telling the story. 😂 I'm down to discuss lmao

Alecsis It is in fact, a selection from a book club I joined with friends last month. Funnily enough I never had much thought to classical Russian literature, as high school only focused more on Italian and English like Shakespeare. Yeah I would be down to meet to discuss, I doubt I can finish in the time frame I was given haha
