The characters are one dimensional, the cheerleading storyline is unrealistic and stereotypical, and we aren’t given any reason to care about the sisters’ relationship. I know it’s a middle-reader but I believe kids deserve well-written, well-plotted books as well. It’s too bad because there needs to be more stories about kids navigating both learning differences and middle school.
