I like how the book highlights society’s hatred of daughters. Sons are worshiped and daughters are casted off to the side. even in marriage mother in laws harbor hatred towards their daughter in laws because they resent their sons putting another woman above them. A son could do. 10x worse than a daughter but the daughter will get the scrutiny
