In a world where Batman is in full control almost everywhere he goes, it's fun to have him take care of Damian who is out of control. In the Bat-family, Bruce is always the paterfamilias, in authority over everyone. To have Damian respond so rebelliously is cool to see.

The one thing Batman can't control isn't the Joker, it's not gotham, it's not even the other members of the Justice League, it's his son.

The Clowns at Midnight was horrible. I'm honestly not sure why it's in here, since it has very little to do with the rest of the story. I'm not going to let this issue color my review, since it is so different than the rest of the book.

Despite his rebellion, his murder of the spook, his kidnapping of Alfred, and his attempted murder of Robin, Damian really just wants his father's approval.

His murder was to prove himself useful in fighting crime and his attempted murder of robin was so that he could be the true heir of his father.

Fascinating to see the rebellion and this motivation compete against each other in Damian's mind and actions.

The first two issues are somewhat of a lame setup for what hopefully will be a great story. I liked Batman's suit in this one. The blue gives a little bit of a retro feel. Alfred is pretty funny in these first issues.
