Post WW1, people (men especially) developed a body detachment after experiencing body horror. Clifford downplays the importance of his body and Connie’s while worshipping the mind to mind connection, all in the name of “superior” intellectuality, except is just a veil for suppressed body anxiety. Men’s opinions towards love and sex were distorted and detached, though I believe it still is today.
