Eek! The fat phobia is real with this 1985 novel. I’m sad for Beaton that she probably unknowingly internalize all this fatphobia. The character who is murdered is obnoxious, arrogant, mean, and FAT, but fatness is the main repeat emphasis of her character description. Can you imagine if we substituted a racial term or an intelligence term or any other intersectional term? Atrocious.
