Wonderful historical fiction - not a genre I’m much one to dabble in. But I’ve always been fascinated by Josephus - equal parts myth and myth maker, historical subject and historian - and this book is a richly woven tale of his life and times. Much more pleasant and engaging than actually reading something like Josephus’ “The Jewish War,” which I’ve tried and failed to do on a few occasions.
