I was overjoyed to read about Ali at peace in Bir Nabat after all his turmoil in City of Brass. I'm sure his fortune will be reversed eventually, but it feels calming for now.
The five year jump was shocking, and the loneliness Nahri feels is far too relatable for me to comment on right now.
It is nice to finally hear Dara's voice in his own POV.

His righteousness is not to my flavour, but...

I knew the peace Ali felt at Am Geziri would not last long, but I didn't realize how immediately harrowing it would be. I'm really enjoying the characters working towards a hospital (it's the only plot point in the story that doesn't induce extensive anxiety). Nahri's marriage and her life at the palace continues to make me feel lonely, my heart goes out to her.
