initially i was going through this looking for tips on what to say but now i've restarted at the beginning. basically, the author is distilling his research into something a non-academic audience would read. currently on the chapter about notes, it's things like "90% of them say they have unbearable psychological pain that they want to stop". so... obvious things so far. this book is trying to be too broad i think

looking for evidence based brief interventions, as i spend over an hour a day at a certain bridge practicing skating; it's less than one month and today was the first depressed person that i intervened with and it's probably going to be regular and i need to know what to do :( so far it's quite simple but effective (distract them, listen etc.) but in the moment it's so stressful you need to prepare ahead of time
