Well Ariel regaining her voice was nice, but I feel like it happened too soon. I'm only about a quarter though this book... Also, what kind of name of Vareet? It sounds more like the name of a location than an actual person! And apparently Flotsam and Jetsam are here too. I thought they would have been forgotten and left in the ocean. I can only guess that Ursula used some potions to transform them...

What else is there for me to say at this point? This book sucks, the characters are far too out-of-character, there's too many point-of-views and this book is WAY too long for how awful it is. And that scene of Ursula's conversation with Ariel after the "land princess" stepped out of the carriage made me cringe.

Man this book stinks... but I'm too committed to turn away now. What was the point of having Flounder and Sebastian worry about Neap-Tide if Ariel already knew about it? Also, I'm like 90% sure that the Trident not being able to be used out of the water is a massive continuity error...

Well, I will admit, I did like Ariel's return to land. And her quick friendship and alliay with Carlotta, the middle aged maid and mom-figure who was kind to Ariel all those years. Still, I'm not sure I have much faith in this book being good. Maybe I'll just table this one for later...

Okay, I'm beginning to fear this book might be even worse than I thought. Ariel's sisters are the worst. (sigh) At least there's a reason for the time gap. I thought there would be none... And I do still feel sympathy for Ariel, but right now, most of what I'm feeling is frustration. Still, at least Jona has a good head on her shoulders. But it's also a bit hard seeing Scuttle as a father and (great) grandfather...

Ten pages in, and I already have some concerns. (Not counting concerns about the summary in and of itself.) Why are we having this prologue take place on land, in a kingdom/territory we don't really know about? I thought we'd be starting out with Ariel's defeat and how Ursula "won". Chapters are still titled with no numbers, much like some other books.
