so far, this is brutal. the depictions of torture leave nothing to the imagination. This isn’t entirely new to me - my parents and grandparents lived through the war and violence. I’ve heard the stories. This book begins in Usulután, my grandparents live there now, and I can see the square as it’s described. Insanely tough read.
