The idea that the very act of translation itself is an act of betrayal and violence hits pretty hard. This book is really good. I realize that I read A LOT of translated books. I have definitely given thought to what has been lost in translation. Same with foreign films. ( I used to watch a ton of those too.)

There are times when I'm reading a book, that I am not present on my body. I'm just floating through time and space physically. Mentally and emotionally I am connected to what I'm reading and I tend to end up an hour or so in the future. That's how I know that I'm loving a book, and that I may have to read it again in the future.
