In this book, the synopsis caught my attention because I occasionally enjoy horror podcasts, and this book reminded me of a story I heard. I did find it odd a scary book like this wasn't in the thriller section, but rather it was in the adventure section. When reading, I couldn't grasp whose perspective i was reading until the names were revealed, and I could associate whose descriptions with who.

The Hill was a good book for a pastime, as it had some good suspense with the close calls the boys had when encountering the creature. I would describe it more as a psychological thriller. The only time I was bothered was when Jared was sharing his family trauma, and it didn't make me sympathise for him much since it doesn't give him an excuse to act so rudely to Kevin

The mention of Jared thinking about ghosts had me curious, especially since the plane disappeared out of nowhere with no trace besides a lingering smell of smoke. The fact that Jared thought he and Kyle were dead and became ghosts gives me a feeling that it's a hint for the future, especially since something is clearly wrong ever since they went up the hill

When I picked this book it reminded me of the horror podcasts i occasionally listen to from its synopsis. Another reason I picked this book up is that it was labeled in the library as an adventure book, but it reads more like a thriller. when first reading i had a hard time figuring out who was who and what descriptions were meant for between the characters, the setup has me thinking the mc has alot of issues.
