Prickle is finished
The revised version is still probably the definitive biography in English of Mao. Worth reading just for the historical essay at the end where Short shits on Jung Chang's Mao "biography" and evaluates the pros and cons of other works on Mao. In terms of strangeness, incidence, contrasts, and consequence, Mao's life still might be the most unbelievable of the 20th century. But no one has yet had the final word.

He risked his life to stash these rather than destroy them as he was ordered.

I got this gem at Fallen Leaf Bookstore in Nashville Indiana. Fabulous place.

I got it for $15, was well worth it.
I still don't "get it" but this puts faces to it. Stunning.
