The references to poets, philosophers, leaders, etc. that Dante respects is an interesting choice. It’s important I think because it gives us more of a perspective of the values of The Pilgrim and Dante. I also think it’s important to note that quite a few of the statements can seem very prideful however it is more of a relation/explanation of something and he is often conveying modesty.

Through Canto II, the dialogue is very interesting so far. I enjoy Virgil a lot and appreciate his dialogue and presence in the book. The symbolism isn’t too intense with a good translation it can be easily understood.
