Is it just me—it might just be!—and mind you I’m only a quarter of the way into the story, but does this not seem a little reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast, in a twisted, inside-out sort of way? A pretty heroine (and her father/grandfather/uncle/etc.), a moody beastly/deformed man, libraries, secrets, and weird gadgets that seem lifelike, etc. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me… Anyone else see it?
