Already I am feeling for Mina Foi a divorced woman who finds herself back with the family she was born into. Her mother is strict and unrelenting and so here Mina Foi finds herself stuck with her Indian family.
The writing is intriguing a cross between precision and poetic.
When I pick a book from Barrack Obama's Reading List I am almost never disappointed.
Looks as if this will be a 3-4 day read at 645 pages.

Putting this aside until the library can lend it to me again
Keeping my fingers crossed that my reading group chooses it for our May online discussion
It most certainly is a "meaty" enough novel that it warrants a month long discussion. Secondly it is long enough that it is a tome at 688 pages
This novel was on Barrack Obama's Reading List last year as well being short listed in 2025 for The Booker Prize.

This book has been on my Libby holds list for a short bit.
Chose to read this book for 2 reasons:
1. Every year since 2019 when Barrack Obama started releasing his reading list I have chosen 2 of his books from the list to read. I already read The King of Ashes by S.A. Cosby...of course I did as his southern crime noir is excellent reading.
2. Had a desire to begin exploring Booker Short Listed novels.
