Sorry that you had to deal with that. It seems that some people will complain about anything. If your reviews were short they probably object to that.

What a weird thing to be nasty about. They can feel free to not read them

Keep deleting them. They chose to waste their time on telling you what you should and shouldn’t do.

I love reading and writing long reviews. Diving into a book in depth is what makes it so rewarding for me. You do you, and keep writing those long reviews!🧡

Im sorry but If you like writing long reviews I don't see the problem. It's the other's person who doesnt want to spend two minutes reading someone else's review...

I've always preferred reading longer reviews as they usually explore more of the positives and negatives so I get a better balance of content or of WHY something excels or fails.

Very silly to make such comments on the other people’s reviews. Longer reviews can obviously offer more perspective.

I think your reviews are just right in both content and length, Marquise. Keep plugging away!

Hahaha! Oh, I have seen that done to others. They will complain about anything, indeed. So far, I've been trolled about how short it was, about DNFing it, and now that they're too long.

Can never win with some people. :D

Who knows! 😂 I do wonder sometimes why these people read at all when they always find something wrong with how others read or review. Not even the book but how others handle that book.

They're annoying, but yes, you're right it's best to ignore and delete, and vent with friends instead.

Yeah, especially if they've loved a book and rated it 5 stars. If they go read the 1 star reviews, it's on them.

These sort of comments that go for how a person does their reviews are always the weirdest. Like, do they even care about the content at all and what is being said? Doesn't seem to me like they do, it matters more that it's to their taste.

Nah, keep doing what you are doing, darling! As a person who also usually writes long reviews (unless i hate a book and i just slightly rant about it), I totally get you. There is such a nice feeling in pouring your thoughts into words and seeing them reach a form you can be satisfied with 😩

People seriously need to mind their own business and work on themselves 😆 I don’t get it… people writing reviews doesn’t affect you unless you LET it affect you.

Long reviews are literally THE best, I appreciate those who make such detailed reviews! I’m sorry you had people commenting that stuff, that’s plain rude and they clearly have nothing better to do. There are so many people who love and appreciate what you do, so keep on doing it!! 🩷🩷

Mine are kind of long. Yet I have found way way longer ones. Tbh if I come across one that is too long I seldom read the whole thing. Yet I have never commented on a review being to long and simply would never do that. My longer reviews are mostly in series so that I can reflect on the last book before tackling the latest one in the series :)

Wow that’s a new one! This is why I blocked comments other than friends. Idk why people feel that their dumb opinions are valid to post to the internet now of days 💀

I write both longer and shorter, usually depending on my time and energy levels. Haven't had anyone comment yet, but I love reading longer reviews, especially if I'm not sure about a book, or I want to deep dive and gush after reading it! :)

You're absolutely right, and I'm sorry that you're experiencing the nasty side of people on this site.

@ Marquise.. I think it bothers them because their attention span is clearly that of a gnat's. They're also clearly intimidated by someone who can be both objective and articulate about why they didn't like a book.. So to make themselves feel relevant in some way, they have to say ignorant things about what makes them feel the color of stupid that they really are.. (giggles) LBVS

May you never experience it! Bloggers have to be more persistent than regular reviewers, their stuff is more visible and attracts all sorts of folks.

Yeah! Writing reviews is an art in itself, I think. I see some reviewers here and elsewhere who are talented writers and very eloquent, they're using their talents in doing what they like. Much like authors...

I mean, there's some reviewing styles I don't like myself, but that's how they write them and who am I to tell them how to write their feelings? But some are like self-appointed Review Police and go 'round the site bugging others.

Some of the single most liked reviews on this site are just a couple lines of very generic sum-up followed by "(Not) Recommended". This is not very encouraging to us that like to make it longer.

i got a lot of comments like that under my review for bride by ali hazelwood. that review/book is the one that made me turn off comments for non-friends and i made an update on my review telling people it’s concerning how much they care about how i choose to spend MY time. it’s not worth the public comments anymore. it has been more than a year since i made that change and it has been so freeing and refreshing not having to worry about any type of negative or rude comments.

I’d go to war for your reviews brother, keep it up!
