I started reading this book because it was recommended by Joe Boyd in his book “and the roots of the rhythm remain“

So far I am very impressed by its scope and detail. It is well written, although perhaps not as well written as Joe Boyd‘s book, which I found especially enjoyable. That said, I am really glad to have learned of this book.
