I understand that there needed to be groundwork to get here, but I wish the whole book had been this. Two people from different planets on a journey of survival, growing to love each other, is so much more interesting than people endlessly talking politics.

Estraven's origin story is pretty interesting but otherwise...I.am.so.bored. Like unless it's a chapter telling a folktale or origin story, I can't really tell the difference between the two characters, I can't easily tell whose chapter I am in.

I like the little folk tales in every other chapter but I am having a hard time getting invested in the main character. They don't feel real in any way so far and I am a character driven person
