The atmosphere makes me wistful for all the fictional worlds.

And there he is: Keema of the Daware tribe, one-armed and in a foul mood.

When the sons of the emperor are called the three Terrors you know they can’t be nice guys.

Goodness, just a few pages in and I’m once again blown away by this vivid writing style. Dramatic, yes, but also so evocative.
