I’ve heard the trilogy is overhyped

My personal opinion so far is that the writing in book one starts off really cheesy and amateur but the storyline was lowkey intriguing. Then the storyline started to get addicting and either the writing started to get better or I was blinded by the storyline. Then book two the writing gets really really good. The flashbacks are so sweet but also devastating. Now I’m nearing towards the end of book 2 and the storyline has just become so outrageously unbelievably. My book buddy and I are rolling our eyes to the back of our heads. The end is pretty much crashing and burning for book 2. Hoping book 3 will pick up and redeem the series.
I think for the most part anytime you go into something with super high expectations then it’s not as good as the hype. All of that being said, I’ll admit this has been a super fun buddy read and brings out alllll of the emotions. But now I’m ready for Leigh Rivers to wrap this shit up.
