This book was a slog. I read it only because I read the first. It’s not bad per se, the premise is interesting, it just struggled to keep my attention, an issue that I had with the first book. The world feels half flushed and the characters are watered down versions of tropes and none of them are particularly likeable. Can’t imagine I’ll read the third.
