“The imprint on the Shroud representing scourge-marks are well defined, appear dumbbell-shaped for the most part, and are located over the back, shoulders, legs, chest, and abdomen. There are more than 100 scourge-mark impressions on the Shroud… There were two directions, suggesting two different Roman soldiers, on opposite sides of the Victim (or one soldier changing from one side to the other).” (p194-195)
