this is some of the best prose i’ve read in my life. gass is constructing a consciousness that feels tragically genuine. heartbreakingly beautiful: not in that stupid trite and aphoristic way. the fact of its beauty feels tragic and disturbing, knowing where it leads. is this vague posting? how am i even supposed to talk about this book

i love this book so far and hope to finish it within the next two months.
it’s interesting, splitting my free time between drinking, reading The Tunnel, and transcribing my friend’s dead dad’s journals from the last 3 years of his life. unreliable narrators… one could have said the other’s, etc. etc. that’s all to say i’m excited about both
