I don’t enjoy Novelas often so I do find I wasn’t connected to it, but it was really well written and the story was engaging and it was a nice piece of historical fiction that taught me new things. As a chess lover, this story definitely hit a little hard harder because its about chess and the ending was good it just wasn’t for me. This was a 3.75 stars, the writing was good I just wasnt emotionally attached

Am I understanding it on a deeper level? No. Am I enjoying it? Yes. I need to stop reading classic so late at night because it is so difficult to analyze I love all the historical context it’s giving, and the little things I’m learning about World War II. I think outside of liking the story and trying to decide if it’s good the information I’m getting about that time period and author is just as important
