Ah, so there's a connection between Tatratea and this short, "Adrift," in which an astronaut investigates alien activity on the ISS. The mysterious Institute of the novella is also directing this mission. No mention yet of Mothers.

The sanity check is such a cool concept. The plot was already moving at a satisfying clip, but the Nightmare on Elm Street development at the 25% mark is really inspired.

Slightly tedious wordplay at the beginning but otherwise a cool opening. Bird Box vibes. Spooky house with heavy doors that close behind the protagonist on their own, check.
