"Alyosha read the letter with surprise, he read it twice, thought to himself a little, and then suddenly began to laugh softly and contentedly. He shuddered; his laughter struck him as sinful. But a second later he was laughing again just as softly and joyfully. He slowly returned the letter to its envelope, crossed himself, and lay down. The turmoil in his soul had passed."

"I should really have said more about him in particular for so long in describing such nondescript servants, and so I shall now return to my tale, in the hope that further information about Smerdyakov will somehow or other be revealed naturally as my story unfolds."

the glory-hole is not the same kind of glory hole I am more familiar with. according to the corning museum of glass, the phrase comes from glass blowing and the religious idea of glory not pervert origins although the glory-hole being in Fyodor's rat-infested home does make me think it referring to both blown glass and getting blown.

I am dying to know the context for this. (I read The Brothers K years ago and remember absolutely none of the plot.)

TELL NO ONE. I am so embarrassed! <3"
the letter, his reaction to the letter - endearing! Book Three was stressful lol the glimpse of a possible romance is everything to me right now. the turmoil in my soul has also passed.
