Davis argues a point I've long held: if you want to talk about fairness/justice, you have to take an international perspective and join the dots between different problems globally. But no, most people're only interested in justice as it affects THEM. Nobody else's pain is similar or comes close. They reject seeing the larger picture, and this is why efforts are so fractured and take so long. Amen!

This is a book of interviews with Davis and a few of her speeches. I already know I'm going to have to re-read to take it all in.

Things that were boiling under the surface are now on the surface, but there are still a lot of things discussed which are terribly relevant today.
She touches on South Africa and Israel-Palestine as being extremely similar to anti-black racism in the US. By taking it out of the US, it gives the problem a completely different dimension.
glad you're enjoying this, and finding resonance. also interesting (tho probably unsurprising given the author) that essays from 10-15 years ago are still very relevant, wrt how things have continued. a book I'm very slowly reading about the history of the Israeli aggression in/towards Palestine - Israeli Apartheid: A Beginner's Guide, by Ben White - makes similar links with South African history.
