He makes a compelling case for the latter - how to tell if a passage is an allegory and how to interpret it. His answer is fundamentally an application of the first chapter of the Westminster Confession.

Durham makes me want to preach through Songs. He clearly and pervasively argues for an allegorical reading of Songs - a theological reading that needs to be recovered today.
