This book is so well thought out and well written. Lately I found fantasy to be repetitive and I had no clue, absolutely no clue what was going on. Every time I thought I finally understood this book I was proven very wrong. There are so many layers to the poet Empress I want to be inside Shen Taos head. She is a literal literary genius.

I only saw two ways this book could’ve gone and I wasn’t fully happy with either. Who knew there was a third other option that I think is perfect!? we’re getting to the end and I thought all the plot twists had been revealed. I was slightly disappointed because the ending didn’t feel right who knew there was still a plot twist to be discovered

I am afraid to keep reading. I know either way I’m going to be so sad. I wouldn’t even know what to do in her position. I also can’t believe this book is almost over. I need another book by this author ASAP because it was so good.

I’m actually staring at my wall and my heart hurts it’s so beautifully written but so heartbreaking. I honestly have no idea where the story is gonna go

And it got worse. This book has left me sick to my stomach. Exploring the vicious cycle of the abused becoming the abuser and the corruption of power and begs the question can the end justify the means

OH MY GOD when you think it can’t get worse and then it most definitely does

I need everyone and their mothers and their grandmother’s to read this book because it is phenomenal. Actually life-changing has reminded me why I love the fantasy genre.
