After the first chapter of the book, I noticed that it seemed like it would be at the end of the book rather than the beginning. The second chapter felt like a true start to the book. I think Garth Stein did this to hook the reader and build suspense throughout the story. This made me even more interested and curious about how the story will get to that point.
