Very happy with this so far. Kore and Hades are such dramatic teens: sarcastic, broody, chaotic, but somehow not annoying. I don’t even know how Bea pulled that off. I’m especially impressed by the chemistry; they’re not even lovers yet, more like low-key enemies, but the tension is there. After my last read, this feels so much more convincing. Had to pause just to giggle a bit.

The Kore and Hades dynamic is so well done. Loved the scene where she calls him out for only “believing” her after seeing proof, not trusting her word. Conflict actually feels real, not brushed aside. Their shift from distrust to shared ambition, especially around power and the underworld system, is incredibly compelling. This retelling is doing something smart.

Started Girl, Goddess, Queen right after The Everlasting and flew through 10% in under an hour, which says a lot. Loving the balance between Greek myth roots and a modern voice. Kore (KOR-eh), the maiden form of Persephone, feels young and defiant but, crucially, active. She doesn’t just complain; she acts. So far, very promising—this might be a 5⭐ gut-pick.
