Wow! A blessing this book is! Careful, considerate, gentle rebuke in areas we’re prone to avert our eyes from Christ; a loving redirection of our eyes to help us see the supremacy of Christ.
❤️Really love CH6 (God Loves Good Wine) about God’s intentionality & sweetness in difficult situations & CH7 (We are Far to Easily Displeased) about how grumbling is a symptom of a myopic soul and the accent of hell

“The life you have been given is an assignment from the Lord. You don’t need to be someone else, and you don’t need to be somewhere else. You need to be who and where God wants you to be, because your assigned life is not just about you. It’s also about hundreds of others around you and hundreds of thousands of others who will come after you” (119).
“…trust the Author’s perspective” (114).

When God Feels Cruel
When God Mercifully Ruins Plans
When God Seems Silent
“It’s the desert that awakens and sustains desire. It’s the desert that dries up our infatuation with worldliness. And it’s the desert that draws us to the well of the world to come (96).
For this, I can thank God for dark nights & deep pains of life. He is so good & his ways are infinitely better than my emotionally directed ones.

This is a great follow-up to My Dear Hemlock—that book is twisted, heavy, and eye-opening; Jon Bloom’s book, this book, is comforting, encouraging, and motivating while being specific in areas we readily take our eyes off Christ.
I don’t often say this, but this is a must read for all Christian women. Whew! What a kind and shepherding directive to the feet of Jesus.

Day 3 is incredible 🔥 Showing through Joseph’s life how God intimately ordains all for his glory & our good. How birth order, infertility, slavery, false accusations, our house & occupation, relationships serve to fulfil God’s good plan—“to show us how active he is, how he never leaves us or forsakes us all along the way, in both the good and the evil things we experience” (22). May I have eyes to see!
