In my book the silence between us Maya does not want to go to a "hearing school" she is very scared and worried people will think that she is weird. She shares to her mom many times that "Wait not ready help me" showing that she doesn't even want to step foot into her new school. I wonder how people will treat her when they arrive to school and have class with her.
