At long last Zooey has left the bathroom hooray. I’m interested as to what exactly is going on with Franny and how Zooey will (presumably) help/talk her through it. Many references have been made to various religions and philosophies which I find interesting, but I can’t pinpoint what it is that Zooey abides by. I’m curious how the two siblings both see the world and how their worldviews will change.

Oh my goodness I was starting to think Zooey would never get out of the bathtub. So far I’m finding his part quite interesting. He’s more thought provoking than Franny/Lane were so I’m curious as to what will happen once this story begins to pick up. I liked Buddy’s letter; he seems like a good guy. As for Zooey I’m not quite sure what to think of him yet. Hopefully the story will start to kick into gear.

I thought Franny (the first of the two short stories within Franny and Zooey) was pretty good. J.D. Salinger does a masterful job of setting the scene and vividly depicting the events of the story. As for the story itself I thought it was good. Not particularly eventful but an interesting read nonetheless. Lane was very annoying, as I’m sure was intended by Salinger. I am curious how Zooey will build on this story.
