The narrator is such a pathetic little guy, I love him. Also, Proust has such incredible insight on the human psyche, human emotions specifically. I adored his exploration of the feeling of homesickness.

Genuinely, all other books felt too surface-level, so my ambition of reading all of In Search of Lost Time in 2026 continues! (Also I've now been convinced of probably needing to follow up with Knausgård in 2027?)
