My god, the narrator’s a narcissist and believes he’s a gift to all women. His fixation still years later on a brief childhood acquaintance makes me scared of him, I’m glad this person isn’t real. He needs therapy, and lots of it.

My god, picking this book back up is a struggle. Don’t get me wrong, the writing is great. The narrator feels real, but this is what causes me to dislike the character. He is such an arse, with an unhealthy obsession of a childhood non-friend he didn’t even know. Reading the rest of the book through his eyes and thoughts will be a slog.

Only on chapter 3 and already the narrator makes me want to bash my own head against my desk. How can Mirakami write so well that it makes me want to continue, but writes dislikable characters equally as well that it makes me want to stop!?! My brain is so confused right now.
