What a chilling example of the failure of our criminal justice system

I have not yet finished this book, but just as I was starting it did I become aware of the controversy surrounding "Lucky." Having just barely started, I considered dropping the book all together, but decided that "Lucky" nonetheless is an important read for both showcasing sexual assault and the "cosmetics of the case" as Sebold calls it, and the way race interplays with issues of criminal justice/sexual assault.
