The idea that difficult behavior comes from temperament and unmet needs—not intentional defiance—really resonates. What I’m struggling with is how responsibility is framed. At times, it feels like the child isn’t fully accountable, with most of the burden placed on the caregiver to adjust and break negative cycles. I understand the dilemma but it predisposes children to act the victim.

Ignoring bad behavior is unrealistic and it feels like the author has never parented a difficult child. So far this books is a lot of struggle.
Or should I say like a kodak moment observation? This book uses many words to talk about parenting difficult children and how to attempt a neutral approach instead of feeding negativity.
