If I didn’t have to wake up at 5:30 for work, I’d attempt to finish this. Sucks to reach the climax of the story and have to wait one more day to know how it all ends. 😩

Gotta stop there. 10/10 thus far.

The romantic elements of this entry also feel more mature, don’t you think? It can be frustrating reading about teenagers navigating their first love experiences, especially when they revolve around a romantic triangle (I’m looking at you, Sadie) but the way both Carter and his sister have been able to internalize their love struggles on this has been much more organic than in the second book.

Seeing a main character (Carter) from the Riordan-verse struggle with the morality of his actions is so REFRESHING. The heroes on his stories (like Percy and Jason) often know what the right thing to do is and never second-guess it, but Carter stands out because of his contradicting feelings in regard to his duties! Seeing him ponder so openly about giving up is so human and very relatable.

Maybe I’ll be able to finish this trilogy this weekend? 😍 Loving the last entry in The Kane Chronicles thus far.

This book is already far superior than The Throne of Fire. 💯 It’s nice to have it established in only two chapters how much is at stake if our heroes don’t manage to defeat Apophis.
