So I was wrong - this book celebrates Campbell’s 60 year writing career, not a mere 50 years. 1974, right. I could have done the math, or glanced at a page before Chapter 1, and been correct before, but no. Anyway, I’ll finish this later tonight. It’s running about 4 stars. There’s an angle to it that takes me back to The Count of Eleven (the second book by RC I read, and the first one I flat out loved).

Fabulous. But…how did this endlessly disturbing, highly prickly writing style become the ultimate Comfort Zone for me? Why do I relish ten paper-cuts per page? - paper-cuts of the Mind, is what I mean. I could never have enough from this guy.

My favourite Horror writer - so naturally, I can't put this one off for long after I've acquired it. I believe this was published in tandem with Campbell celebrating his 50th year as a published author, and I'll drink to that!
