To all the reviewers out there, I have a 3 star review on a book and the author’s friend was angry. She wrote an unkind comment on my review. How do you handle that?

Wild thing for them to comment. I reported, there is no need for that here.

Wait what? Someone actually did that? That is crazy!!😂 Extremely unprofessional behavior💕Try not to take it personally💕
I haven’t seen the comment but I truly hope she didn’t say anything personal about you🥺💕
Also, 3 stars is good!😂 I’d be happy if somone rated a book I written 3 stars. I’d take that as a win💕😅
That’s why I’m so confused. I didn’t even say anything negative. I’m trying to let it go but it really got to me.
3 stars isn’t even bad. Sadly, you can’t control the ridiculous behavior of others. Don’t let her or her petulant comment get to you.
It sounds like she is just being insecure. Don't take it personally. 3 stars would be a win in my book. It's also your opinion. Let them get mad. What they going to do? Keep being your awesome self and just let their comments roll off.
As Gpac said, I was about to say that it sounds to me too, like the author is being unprofessional and insecure. It's a rating system for a reason, you don't "owe" the authors 4/5 stars. :)
Yeah, this is why I don't accept review solicitations anymore. Not to say this is an identical situation, but people do get very personally invested in ratings and reviews here. Though, I don't think I've ever had a friend of an author do that. Usually it's the authors who DM me to curse me out.As for nasty review comments... usually I just write "LOL" and leave it at that :)
You are an icon, Jayson. I've personally never had to deal with haters like that. Looking at this, Ik what to do if I ever come across a situation where this is necessary.
Thanks for the kind words, Gpac_11. I think a lot of it comes down to visibility. People who are inclined to aggressiveness tend to take it out on what's nearest. So, whether it's the top negative review on a million-user book or the only review on a self-published book, it's largely about what's in front of you to take out your frustrations on. Had there been a 2-star or 1-star review, I'm sure that one would have taken most of the vitriol.
