Something I noticed in the introduction of this book is a connection to the adversity question. The introduction of the book talks about Crenshaw high school and how it isn't as good as other schools creating obstacles for the advanced students attending but even with that they still the 10th grade gifted students had "the fifth highest score in mathematics out of 106 high school programs in the district" (Corwin 4).
