How is it?

Not bad so far! It’s a high fantasy world that kicks off with an action packed prologue at the start of a war, then jumps many year later into the war, with the chapters tracking the perspectives of multiple people on opposite ends of the war. I think around chapter 10, I stopped and read a chapter-by chapter summary on a wiki and it helped a ton with where the three separate stories were at.

As an audiobook, tracking all of the characters feels like a bit of a stretch sometimes, but I haven’t been totally lost yet. I also think the way that their currency and their magic work is pretty cool and adds to the depth of its universe. I can tell there’s still a lot for the Kaladin character and the reader to discover about stormlight that’s keeping me hooked, and the emotional struggles of all of the characters feel pretty believable and relatable.

I can already tell that the book has lots of bloat to it just to add more pieces to the characters’ emotional journeys though. I also think that the author, in an effort to really get deep with the three main characters of each side of the story, inadvertently highlights how static other side characters are.
