While well-written, this book is unfortunately boring and lives only in random bursts of energy. Characters are dull and relationships never feel very intimate, which could be thanks to Knight’s style more than Ileth as a protagonist

Very exposition heavy. Has a lot of Knight’s hallmark narrative quirks and also some repeated elements from the age of fire cycle. An interesting read thus far
