And now put them all together. A YA Dystopian with a strong romance subplot ... and it still works! xD

I'm basically a creative writing major (it's called Writing and Literature, but it is mostly just creative writing) and they don't seem to try and follow these tropes, so far. This is really only my first year. They actually seem to be trying to fight against it, at least at UCSB. For example, basically dystopians are like only written in America or more powerful countries that aren't devastated by war. When a country like America goes down in a dystopian, so does the rest of the world, and then only a select few survive, which can be offensive to other countries because they know what it is like, how devastating it is when most of the population survives instead of the 3% or whatever in most dystopian novels. And then most are also significantly white casts... Idk I will never not love or read dystopian, but my professor/advisor at UCSB is like "Yes, research why dystopia basically doesn't exist outside of America and try to write one that isn't offensive to other cultures." Seems to me like writers just fall into common holes because they work...

I love reading dystopian novels, and there are a lot of books that I love and have incredible world building and story, but there also has been a time where I would read some book and think that "I've seen this before!"
I guess this was just a light take on some genres and how they play out by a person who created these pics, but I really appreciate how you explained it :)
