Chapter 30 of this book genuinely gave me chills from how accurately the author expressed the experience of shifted perspective from having a new mindset related to the way new altered perception and especially how she described how differently her experience with therapy and connecting w other people was different after doing an ego-dissolving substance. Genuinely so interesting so powerful so much hope for healing

Honestly there is a lot to be said about how people with severe trauma and mental illness are able to experience life with the same enjoyment and ease as people who haven’t experienced these setbacks and it is really unbelievable the way that substances that are actually treatment for people with mental illness become severely held away from people needing treatment because of misuse and abuse from the use of the substance - and obviously people have addiction against their control and there is a lot to be said there too. But the last couple of chapters of this book really made me realize how powerful and important it is for people to have access to these “illicit” drugs like shrooms lsd molly etc that are actually really powerful and important treatments when they are prescribed and used with consideration and care
