Reading Calvin’s discussion of the church in the Apostles’ Creed was providential and encouraging.

“In sum, by the name 'Jesus' assurance of redemption and salvation is confirmed for us. By the title 'Christ' we are invited to receive the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of sanctification which comes from it, in that Christ sanctified himself for our sake, as his own lips declare (John 17:19).”
