I never understood; what’s dark academia? is it like dark romance?

୨ zoe ୧ thx for asking ! i also didn't knew what it was at first like some months ago, but it’s basically an aesthetic centered around a love for classic literature, history, and that dark, moody university vibe. think old libraries, deep conversations, and lots of wool and espresso. it’s like romanticizing the pursuit of knowledge with a bit of a melancholic edge ! and it’s not really the same as dark romance though, because dark academia is all about the aesthetic of learning and books while dark romance is more about, well, the toxic and spicy book tropes 🙃 really good question ! ily, xx, appie 🩷
